The Code of Conduct Bureau is organizing a one-day
Sensitization workshop on “Ethics and Accountability in Public Office” for
Speakers and Principal Officers of State Houses of Assembly.
The workshop aims at enlightening Speakers on the workings
of the Bureau and how best to conduct themselves in the discharge of official
duties. The Bureau hopes to use this forum to solicit the commitment of members
of state legislatures to rectitude in public office.
The programme is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 8th
of April 2008 at Aso Hall of International Conference Centre (ICCC) Abuja.
The Special Guest of Honour for the event is Rt. Hon.
Oladimeji, (OFR) Speaker House of Representatives, Chief. Lugard Aimiuwu (OON),
past President Nigerian Institute of Management will chair the occasion, while
Dr. Moddibo Umar, Hon. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory is the Chief
Host.
Papers to be presented at the occasion are:

“The challenges of Promoting the Highest Ethical Conduct in Public
Office; the role of the legislature” by Gen. Ishola Williams of Transparency in
Nigeria.

“An overview of Anti-Corruption Campaign in Nigeria and the call
for merging Anti-Corruption Agencies” by Prof. Humphrey Asobies, Chairman
NEITI.
Others include “Assets Declaration and its implication for
Public Officers”, “Building a Zero Tolerance Culture for Corruption using the
Code of Ethics”, “Investigation and monitoring: The case of CCB,” to be
presented by the Directors heading these operation in the Bureau.
