The Code of
Conduct Bureau in line with its mandate of establishing a high standard of
morality in the conduct of Government Business organized a two-day public
enlightenment workshop for lo
cal
government officers on the 4th and 5th August, 2008 in
Kano State. The theme of the workshop is “Driving the 7-Point Agenda through
Government Anti-Corruption efforts.
The Secretary, Code of Conduct Bureau Mr. Sam Saba, in his welcome address
stated that the 7- Point Agenda of Mr. President constitutes the most important
framework for policy implementation in government’s move to accelerate economic
growth and reforms to make a concrete and visible difference in the lives of the
people.
The
Executive Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shakarau represented by his
deputy, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo in his keynote address stated that the
government of Kano State promotes transparency and accountability, commitment
and genuine dedication to work, as part of its anti-corruption drive.
According to him, public misconduct and corruption is a major obstacle in the
implementation of this agenda, and as such it
behoves us to do everything possible to demolish this obstacle so that we can
realize the vision of being among the 20 largest economies of the world by the
year 2020.
Sixty seven (67) participants were present at the workshop.
